Role Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Trainee Electronics Technician with strong practical skills to help manufacture, assemble, and test technical equipment. This role is suited to someone who thrives on “being on the tools” rather than focusing on design work. While good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are important, the primary focus is on executing tasks with precision and efficiency.

The right candidate will have experience with soldering, cable crimping, and general assembly work, as well as an understanding of electronics. You’ll support senior engineers and play a key role in building CineArk’s engineering capabilities while developing your skills over time.

About the work:

We build custom rigs that integrate off-the-shelf components with 3D printed parts, custom circuits and tailored wiring, to supply predominantly flight-cased products that are used on film sets by highly experienced technicians. These products are used for applications that include audio, video, network and RF, and often require custom power and battery solutions. These items are support by a large array of customised cables, cable reels and carts.

Key Responsibilities:

Cable Assembly: Soldering, crimping, and assembling custom cables.

Equipment Modifications: Modifying technical equipment as required.

Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining hire equipment.

Testing: PAT testing (training provided), assembly, and testing of hire equipment.

Building Systems: Assisting in the construction and testing of Audio-Visual equipment for hire.

Work Orders: Managing workload using work orders and internal systems.

Essential Skills & Requirements:

Experience soldering and crimping cables

Using hand tools, e.g., cutting and drilling

Attention to detail and focus on accuracy

Physically capable of handling and moving equipment

Self-motivated, with common sense and the ability to work unsupervised.

Positive attitude, able to adapt to changing priorities.

Basic computer literacy (MS Office, Apple systems) with the ability to learn new software quickly

Desirable Skills (Not Essential):

Experience in PCB repair

Familiarity with breadboarding, prototyping and interpreting PCB schematics

Basic surface-mounted device (SMD) assembly

HNC/HND in Electronics or Electrical Engineering

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or greater

Experience assembling and testing AV equipmente

Working Conditions

• 42.5 hours per week, working 8am to 4.30pm – with flexibility to work outside of these hours if required

• Monday to Friday

• Holiday – 20 days per year plus UK bank holidays
