Meet Sarah Wilkinson, CineArk’s Assistant Production Co-ordinator

Meet Sarah Wilkinson, CineArk’s Assistant Production Co-ordinator
Every month we aim to shine the spotlight on our incredible team members by presenting them with our AA award.

What was your background prior to joining us?

I became interested in media whilst in 6th form which led to animation and I then ransitioned to film production at Bournemouth University. When I graduated I was employed as a photographer with the army until the COVID pandemic struck. I also spent a year judging script competitions which I really enjoyed.

What did CineArk look like when you joined?

Since I joined the production team has grown and there’s a been a number of new starters joining the Kit Room. There’s more processes in place now and there’s now a great deal more training which has been really helpful.

What does a typical day look like?

We’re quieter at the moment as a result of the strike but I enjoy calling people, building relationships and improving our processes. I’m naturally very organised and I work well under pressure. When we’re working at peak I’ll come into the office to a 100 emails from the night before. These would include kit requests, CV requests and I’d spend a lot of time quoting or responding to changes. I then work with the Kitroom team to query kit availability and to assist with collection, delivery and fulfilment.

What do you like about the job?

Every day is different. I enjoy the industry and speaking to people and learning how our services are used on set. I like being part of an industry that is dynamic and changeable and I like utilising my skills in a postive way.

What impact have the writers’ strike and SAG strike had?

I’m aware how challenging it is for all the people that we work with and I’m aware that there’s a lot of people who are struggling at the moment. It’s been compelling to learn just how much of the UK industry is reliant on American spend and my hope is that we can develop more independence going forward.

What are you looking forward to at work?

I’m looking forward to becoming an account manager and building relationships. I enjoy meeting people in production and getting to know them. I hope to spend more time visiting sets and taking part in socials.

What makes a good day?

I love when we’re busy and the whole team is in the building. It’s great to feel part of something much bigger and I really appreciate it when someone takes the time at the end of a production to express their appreciation for the work that we do.

How would you sum up CineArk in a sentence?

A big manic family who thrive on giving you what you need on set.

Favourite film?

A Nightmare before Christmas
